Junkers or Jewels Car Campaign
The “Junkers or Jewels” Car Campaign offers a tax deduction to individuals who donate an unwanted vehicle: car, van, truck, boat, jet ski, motorcycle, three wheeler, trailer or motor home. Proceeds from the sale of your vehicle ensure ongoing spiritual care to patients, family members and staff at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Check with your accountant about how to receive a tax deduction.
Vehicle Donation Requirements You need a clear title to the vehicle, and it must be whole and have air in the tires. Sign your name as “Signature of Owner” on the front and “Signature of Seller/Agent” on the back of the title exactly as it appears on the face of the title. If the title is registered in two names, both parties must sign.

After we receive this information, a towing service will contact you to schedule a free pick-up. When your vehicle is picked up, the towing service will provide a receipt, after which they immediately assume liability for the vehicle. Your vehicle will be sold at auction or to a licensed recycler.
As of January 1, 2005, The Chaplaincy Fund, Inc. complies fully with changes in the law. The new provision limits your possible tax deduction up to $500, or, if above $500, the gross proceeds sale price of the vehicle. The charity is required to provide the gross proceeds sales price information to the donor. The new provision also requires that, if the charity intends to keep the vehicle rather than sell it, the charity must also provide a statement to that effect. Any questions regarding the new law, see IRS Publication 4303.
When your signed title and vehicle is received, The Chaplaincy Fund will acknowledge your gift with a letter of thanks, including the selling price of your vehicle. You may be eligible to receive a charitable contribution deduction on your itemized federal tax return. Consult your tax advisor to see if you qualify.
